Network requirements for Ancon Cloud

Ancon wants to be able to guarantee the stability and reliability of your business, so we have compiled a list of requirements for your network that you will be connecting Ancon devices to.

Basic network requirements

  • An Internet connection with a minimum speed of 10 Mbit/s and a latency of less than 25 ms, dedicated to Ancon.

  • A Wi-Fi network with at least 802.11ac at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, covering all
areas where the POS equipment will be used.

  • A separate SSID dedicated to Ancon devices.

  • The network must be isolated from all other local networks/VLANs, such as the guest network and the office network.

  • The network cabling in the building must be undamaged, in good condition, and meet the minimum Cat 5e cable standard.

  • Cabling from the patch panel/router to the access point must be direct, i.e., access points must not be connected via a mesh, branching between access points, or branching through other unmanaged equipment.

  • A network outlet or network cable must be available within a maximum distance of 2 meters from where the receipt printer and receipt printer are to be placed. The outlet or cable must be patched and active on the network.

  • Receipt/ticket printers and cash registers (iPad/Android) must communicate over the local network via IP address.

  • A power outlet must be available within a maximum of 2 meters from the iPad cash register, card terminal, and receipt/ticket printer.

Recommendations

  • We recommend that the network cabling not be spliced or branched between unmanaged switches.

  • We recommend network equipment that can be monitored and supports management
via, for example, WebGUI, CLI, and SNMP.

  • For incoming broadband connections, a fixed cable connection should be used, such as fiber.

If you are unsure whether your network meets these requirements, please contact a qualified network technician. If you have further questions regarding the setup, please contact your sales representative.
